Our Dogs

We thought you might want to meet the reason we felt it was necessary to purchase Myles, our Dog Transport Vehicle – aka DTV.

We used to breed Labradoodles, and we were pretty successful at it.  We did this for about 10 years under the name FoxTail Ridge Labradoodles.  And our 3 dogs contributed quite a bit to our success.  At one time we had 5 breeding dogs, we’re down to 3 dogs now and here’s the story of those three – Quigley, Kylie, and Kosmo.

First there’s Quigley, our 50-pound cream Labradoodle, born in 2005 from our very first litter – Bowser (our male lab) and Abbie (our female poodle) were his parents.  Sadly they are gone from our lives now, but they live on through Quigley.  Quigley is the most mellow dog ever, he very rarely barks, he is always by Thom’s side; he’s gentle, kind and loving.  If there was ever a perfect dog, Quigley is it.  He seems to know intuitively what we want, and we only need to say it once.  Plus he’s athletic as all get out, once jumping in the back of our truck over the tailgate and into the shell through a space about 18″.  It was pretty impressive.

Then, there’s Kylie, our 30-pound black Labradoodle born in 2007.  We got her from a breeder in Utah; her mom was a 70-pound lab, and her dad was a 10-pound poodle (yeah, we know, we’ve thought about that too.)  Kylie is our “cat” in a dog’s body.  She is more aloof than the other dogs, preferring to be close to us but by herself.   She’ll often wander off in the middle of the day to go sleep upstairs under our bed, or we’ll find her with us but behind our chair.  She’s friendly, loves to meet new people, will do ANYTHING (AND WE MEAN ANYTHING) for a treat and loves to have her back scratched.

And, of course, Kosmo, the little general.  Kosmo is a 10-pound Poodle born in 2008.   We mated him with Kylie for our miniature Labradoodle line.  We call him the little general because he’s definitely the one in charge and the alpha of the pack (after Thom and me).  Of course, it’s really only because Quigley is so darn mellow he lets Kosmo think he’s in charge.  Kosmo is definitely a one person dog and attaches himself to Deb.   Always by Deb and if he has his choice always in her lap.  He likes to boss the other dogs around and let them know he’s boss – Quigley lets him and Kylie puts up with it.

They’re the reason we bought Myles.   We got tired of traveling without them and felt pretty guilty when we left them home while we went on our adventures.  So here we are, 2 adults, 3 dogs, a DTV and a tow named Larry exploring the US.
